I think I was probably feeling the same way as most when Barack Obama became president, happy. It signalled change in the USA and hope for most Americans. But I'm now also growing to like the rest of his family, the daughters seem very cute and Michelle Obama seems to be raising the fashion stakes in the world of politics. Since Obama came into the spotlight at the beginning of the presendential election, fashion magazines have commented on the way she dresses. From reading an article about her, she says that it's not necessarily the designers she loves, she just loves clothes. She loves colour and when talking about posing for InStyle magazine she said " While I don't consider myself a fashionista,I thought it was good for my daughters and little girls just like them, who haven't seen themselves represented in these magazines, hopefully to talk more broadly about what beauty is, what intelligence is, what counts". Sleeveless, shift dresses became the new thing to wear when she was seen wearing them and a black and white dress (centre) she wore on TV became a bestseller.I think it's quite refreshing to see someone who is in the fashion spotlight to have such a different view about clothes, in the way that she doesn't wear clothes just to make a statement, she primarily enjoys wearing them. Hooray for change!
